Advice from a Last Minute Shopper

Advice from a Last Minute Shopper

I’ve been a procrastinator all my life.

So naturally, I’ve never been that shopper with all my Christmas shopping done the week after Thanksgiving. Usually I haven’t even made a list until several weeks into December!

Instead, I’m typically the gal at the mall [just days before it’s too late] with a few lists, a coffee, and a mission.

With all the early birds shopping for presents in July and the rest of the planners buying gifts online, the lines and mall crowds seemed less vicious this year. [Although, there may have been one not-so-friendly gesture in the parking lot…] Still, there are ways to stand-out among the last minute shoppers. I’ve gathered my tricks below:

  • Plan, don’t panic. Ok, so you’ve waited until 2 days before Christmas to start your shopping? No big deal, as long as you have a plan! Layout your shopping route to save time and money. You’ll be less stressed if you know where you’re headed.
  • Make lists for your lists. I love lists [thanks mom] and they have always been my secret weapon for successful holiday shopping. Make a list of all the friends and family on your gift list with potential ideas for each. Then plan out some stores that might have the things you need.
  • Timing is key. There’s bound to be some fellow last minute shoppers and overachievers out shopping this week too. Try to find a pocket of time to hit the stores when it may be less crowded. For example, start early or go for a quick trip right after your lunch break.
  • Follow the sales. For those on your list that you’re not quite sure what to get, follow the sales. Who knows, you may even find something for yourself!

Best of luck and happy holidays!
